I got a model 1 Genesis bundled with a 32x for 45 dollars! It was listed at 55, but I had a 20% off coupon I had been saving :-)
Also snagged a copy of Pooyan for the 2600 for 10 bucks, Tapper for Cv for 25, and 4 32x games (Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter, Motocross Championship, and Doom) for 4 dollars each (although Doom doesn’t seem to be working, even after a thorough cleaning the cart shows the Sega copyright info, then just sits at a black screen). One of the larger hauls I’ve had in a while!
Also have a copy of Star Wars arcade on the way courtesy of EBay, that game is one of the main reasons I’ve been wanting a 32x so it was a must have.

No way this is in the worst 10 list... there are much worse games out there!

I think any hatred I have toward modern games is all the first person perspective that has permeated modern games. I get motion sick from FP games, and so that tends to limit a lot of what I can play. Luckily a lot of developers still offer third person perspective either as the only option or a selectable option, so that has helped me be able to play some of the modern stuff. I’m working on beating the Uncharted series on PS3, and I have also played Order 1886 on PS4 and been enjoying it. Dragon Age 3, the Mass Effect series (except Andromeda, that one has not drawn me in) all great games on 360 and Xbox One that I’ve enjoyed. I’m also really digging the new Mario and Zelda games on Switch; Nintendo knocked it out of the park yet again!
I am one of those people that groans when I fire up the Xbox or the PS4 and see the update required screen, because if I’m using those systems it means I have some time to devote to a longer title, and all those updates do is eat into that time I have available. I probably should leave the systems in standby and let them auto download, but I only have an 8mb down connection, and if I’m trying to stream something and one of the consoles decides to download something, it’s annoying. Luckily I have enough stuff to play, so I just switch to something else when that happens, and move on, but I have been known to tout how all my retro stuff just works, no updates required :-)
I love the fact that indie developers are taking the retro craze and running with it too. It’s great to see 2D platformers making a comeback, and seeing a new point and click adventure game like Thimbleweed Park was awesome!
That being said, any snobbery from either side is just uncalled for. Play what you enjoy and what you have time for. Video games in the end are about what entertains you and the people you play with or share them with, and the more opinions and discussion without purist nonsense the better.

caught up with this one while working today, another fine episode... thank you... i remember this arcade machine from our local pizza shop about 20 years ago... was crap at it then, am crap at it now... but i'm still drawn to playing it when i'm browsing the everdrive... Thanks Bobbi! I never saw this one in the arcade unfortunately, it’s definitely one I would have liked to play with a friend. I don’t play this as much as Blazing Lasers or 1943 Kai, but it’s pretty good.

Hey Ferg, any chance of getting the recipe for the Pac Man cookies? My daughter has been listening to this episode with me on the way to school and diving and gymnastics practice. She loves baking and has loved your story, and wanted to try to make the same Pac Man cookies you talked about in this episode :-)

Kicking myself for not getting feedback in for this episode, even though I’ve played the Colecovision and NES versions of this game far more than the 2600 version. I didn’t have this one as a kid either, but I remember watching and loving Popeye cartoons in the 80’s. And who could forget Dave Coulier and all his Popeye impressions on Full House?
I also need to watch the Robin Williams movie. The 80’s All Over podcast did a really good review of it in their December 1980 episode, and hearing about it again in this podcast reinforced the need for me to track a copy down and watch it.
I’ll save the rest of my comments for a double audio submission for Congo Bongo; no way in hell am I missing feedback for a game I played the crap out of as a kid!

You know what Bobbi, an idea just struck me... do you have a greatest hits list of PC Engine stuff you would like to see covered? If so just drop me an email with a list and I'll start looking through games.
I also forgot to thank you for the tip about Turboviews... I have watched a lot of his stuff and loved it! I was desperate to get some idea of what to play when I first got the system, and his videos helped me out quite a bit. I'll remember to reference his stuff when I can when working on the episodes.

I love the Lynx emulator I have on my PSP; if I have time I'll have to listen and play along. I feel like the Lynx was another great system from Atari that did not get nearly enough love. I always wanted one as a kid, but it was way out of reach financially.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'm sorry I overlooked coming back here and following up on the thread; definitely going to make sure I do that from now on! Episode 2 is out: traffic.libsyn.com/turbotasticpodcast/Episode_2_Keith_Courage_In_Alpha_Zones.mp3Bobbi, I will definitely give the PC Engine side some thought, it just seems overwhelming to say I'm going to tackle that library out of the gate, especially since I'm not sure if I'm going to like doing this long term. I know Rondo of Blood will be covered for sure, but beyond that I'm not sure yet. Just browsing the list, I'm very interested in the Sega ports, some of the Konami stuff (Gradius, Salamander, Parodius), Ninja Ryūkenden (Ninja Gaiden), Tatsujin (Truxton), and others, but I'll have to sit down and look through the game list and make sure what I pick has US translations available, or make sure the title isn't language dependent. Stay tuned! Shinto, thanks for adding the show to the Game By Game website! And thank you to both Shinto and Ferg for the Episode 1 feedback, and Shinto for Episode 2 feedback; I really appreciate it! I am still trying to decide if I want to do a website, and if I do how I want to host it... I'm contemplating a retro-90's style site on Neocities at the moment, but hand coding HTML is somewhat time consuming, so I might go with some blog site (ala Ferg's Blogspot page) or Wordpress, something easy to configure and slap content onto. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on that please let me know.
