Hello Fergophiles, wp.freeplayflorida.com/I have bittersweet news about me attending Free Play FL. First the bitter: I won't be. Now the sweet, I'll be in Switzerland instead. Also, I have a full weekend ticket I would like to offload. Hopefully for some compensation, but really just to a good home. I spent $50 on it. Did you buy yours yet? Do you want it? Do you know of anyone who does? Thanks, Ed

Of course I need to add my voice to this chorus of support and understanding.
Here's my angle. There have been a surprisingly large number of occurrences in my life where I cotton on to a thing at the end of, or shortly after the end of, it's heyday, only to see the thing cease. Joining bands, reading book series, watching TV shows, political ideologies, etc. I would hate for it to happen here, in a milieu that has brought me so many smiles and joy.
So, whatever the future holds for our beloved podcast, I hope the best for you.
Ed
PS Also I can't help but wonder if there is some causation between me joining the thing and the thing ending. If there is causation in this case, my apologies to all.

Lounge pants. I like that. Reminds me of Leisure Suit Larry.

Are car boot sales of classic games common? Usually the only thing I recall seeing in car boot sales are munitions. In films of course.

Also, Michael Giacchino did Pixar's Up, with its utterly faucet level tear inducing song "Married Life", which accompanies the opening story of Hank and Ellie.

> I was watching Krull the other > Day
Now there's a statement you seldom see.
For my two cents, I also like soundtracks but their essential motif-only nature means I don't go to them intentionally for listening. I will say, though, that Wendy Carlos, who scored Clockwork Orange and Tron does a great job. I enjoy trying to find the symphonic inspiration for film music, even if the actual composer did not have that in mind.
For example, Holst's New World sure seems to have influenced Williams's Empire theme. And on Tron, Messiaen's Turangalila Symphony is very clearly apparent.
Also, great job Eugenio on the Rampage guy interview. You have a great podcasting voice. Once you can use it again I look forward to hearing it!

Hi Ferg,
I just bought tickets to visit my mom in Philly 7/17 - 7/22. I would gladly drive down to Delaware to meet up. I know there is one other person on here from Philly as well. Who is it?
But as Eugenio says take care of your self.
All the best.

I certainly do not mean to be pushy, but this was my first audio submission where I included content from my son. He keeps asking if the episode has been posted yet. He's very excited about hearing the episode. Hello Ferg, do you have any ETA for us?

I like the Inty flashback very much. The controllers are a big upgrade to the original ones on the loaner from 1978. Also, I bought the overlay pack. It was so nice to have overlays for all 60 games.

Speaking of vacation, my employer (Oracle) recently switched to "flex vacation". I strongly dislike it because how much vacation you get is entirely up to your individual manager. I happen to have a great manager right now, but re-orgs happen frequently and I could easily end up working for a manager who does not respect their employees as much. In that case, my ability to take PTO at all may be curtailed.
Now, don't get me wrong, I realize that most of my fellow Americans don't even get paid sick days, let alone PTO, so I am not complaining, but up until very recently my employer had a proper vacation policy, with an accrual schedule. On the whole, however, Oracle is an awesome place to work.

I don't make recordings, it's gotta be live. I think of the time before recorded music, when the only way to get music is to play it yourself. Back in those days, people could sight read like monsters. To me, that is real musicianship. As I said, I am just a strummer, but for tunes I like, Althea for example, strumming and singingbalong is adequate.
How about you Chris++? I gather you are more of a pro?
Which reminds me, Ferg has hinted at a bonus tracks about his music career.

Hello,
I am a hack ukelele strummer. I can strum chords. One thing I like to do is put my music library on shuffle, keep pressing next til a good ukeable tune comes up, then look up the chords in the tabs app, and then play the tune. Good for an hour of live music fun. Does anyone else have a similar pastime?

Way back in 2001, when I was living in San Francisco, I had a local friend with whom I would play classic games. He had a very nice Intellivision lot with ten or so CIB games, including Dungeons & Dragons and Sea Battle. When my job situation changed and I moved to Orlando, he graciously lent me the whole thing in exchange for me loaning him my Casio keyboard.
Now, 17 years later, the loan has ended and I am sending the unit back to him. I'm sad about it, but glad for the many years of Intv fun I've had.
I'm not in a position to splurge on a new lot, so I'll have to make due with my Intellivision Flashback unit. If I come across a good deal on a lot, maybe I'll get it, but that seems unlikely.
I know this has nothing to do with the podcast, but this is the only classic game forum in which I invest time, so I thought I'd share it here.
I'm looking forward to the Fireball episode!
