you may need to book some time off work for intellivisionaries consumption out of interest, what are the games? Astrosmash Atlantis Bomb Squad Demon Attack Dungeons & Dragons Horse Racing Mission X NASL Soccer Tron Deadly Discs Also, my CRT doesn't have a cable-in input. I was going to use an NES connector but now I need to find a way to convert the output to RCA.

Is fixing screwy paddles really as simple as everyone says? Alcohol (91% was the best I could find), cotton swabs, and bada-bing? I've always used WD-40 (or the superior, more long-lasting MotorKote) and Q-Tips. Either way, yes, it's pretty easy. Just make sure the whole metal ring gets coated. Probably the easiest controller "fix" I know of! This guy prefers alcohol, but his instructions are helpful anyway: vintagegamingandmore.com/atari-paddle-repair-cleaning/Believe me, if I was able to fix mine, there is zero doubt you or anyone else registered on this forum can do it.

I just picked up my first Intellivision (actually a Tandyvision) & need to figure out what I'm doing with it. i recommend three things to get the most out of your intellivision... 1 - manuals 2 - the intellivisionaries podcast 3 - manuals Thanks! I'm a complete INTV noob. I played it on occasion while I was much younger, but I had a 2600 & most of my friends did too. Of course, the six games that came with my system have no overlays or manuals. I'll be doing a lot of printing. I will add the Intellivisionaries to my list! Thanks!!

Another game I had never heard of. Great job tracking down the family of Duncan Scott.

Thanks Troff! Yes, I have watched both seasons of Stranger Things & loved it. I do still watch TV, but would rather play games. Cuphead is unrelenting! I stink at games & I think that was a poor decision purchasing that. It looks great but I cannot make any headway.

The other point that I can sympathise with is that of just working your 8 hours and then leaving things behind. I used to do a lot of extra hours (but I didn't get paid overtime) and in the end the only person to really benifit was 'the boss'. Work is important as it provides an income, but health and family always come first ! This, times 1000.

See, the time needed for some games is a draw for me.
I don't watch a lot of TV, current TV at least. I mean, I'm going to start my sixth rewatch of The Wire soon, I'll tune in for Seinfeld or Barney Miller reruns whenever possible, but aside from a Ken Burns run on PBS, my current day TV viewing is limited to the NFL.
I like to read books, although I've slowed down in that department. So the majority of my entertainment comes from playing games.
A game like Fallout 3 or any of the new Wolfensteins, take some time to get through the story. A game like Skyrim or any Assassin's Creed can take much longer if you choose to do all the side quests. I'm an achievement junkie (there's a post for another day) so more often than not, I'm spending significant time playing these games.
I don't have that much free time. I have to wake up early most days, so I try to go to bed early. So finding time for these types of games can be a challenge. But to me, that's MY issue, not the game's issue.
There are many days when I don't feel like committing to spending two hours exploring or finishing a mission. On those days, I'll fire up an old-school game or games to keep me busy for an hour or so.
Also, the current game du jour, PUBG, has matches that can last 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on several factors. That game has that all important, "okay, just ONE more round before bed" factor.
I totally agree with you both about the jumping on the bandwagon aspect of complaining about something. E.T. is the perfect example.

Well, more like venting. I don't really rant, especially in my old age. I'm almost as old as some of you, maybe older in some cases, but we're all basically from the same era/generation. I got my 2600 when I was 8 in 1981. I know I played it long before that & before that, played many a Pong clone on random TVs. I dabbled with the Intellivision (yuck, but just seeing those controllers causes waves of nostalgia to wash over me.) From there it was on to the NES, then the Genesis, N64, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii (YUCK!) & finally Xbox One. Somehow, I'm able to enjoy all the wonderful things that come along with modern gaming (EPIC stories & gameplay, graphics that blow my mind & the ability to play games with buddies who are not sitting next to me on the floor in front of the TV) while still appreciating all of the good things that led up to where we are today. I see Facebook posts, tweets, Instagrams, etc. from retro games constantly bashing modern games. Why? I don't understand why theirs hatred towards modern gaming? Believe me, as someone with a horrible internet connection, I am often inconvenienced by having to download either the game or an update (I have my Xbox set to download updates automatically so usually I never notice) and the costs involved. (Although, adjusting for inflation, I don't think things are too bad.) Microtransactions are ridiculous, but guess what? I don't buy them, so they don't really affect me. Some of my best video gaming memories stem from games I've played in the past ten years, including right now. (OMG, PUBG!!!) But, I don't think I would appreciate what I have today if I didn't love all the games I've played in the previous thirty years. Venting over.
