I wish there was a way to game together without having to drive 6 hours.
Hmm. I may have an idea.

Stormsurge, I would recommend one, but it seems like the SNES has gotten very expensive to collect. I would say if you do get one, save a couple hundred more up and get a multicart for it. Doesn't mean you can't still build up a collection, but it does mean you get to play stuff sooner :-) I also can't recommend the ASCIIPad enough as a controller for the SNES. Far more reliable than the Nintendo controllers, plus you get rapid and auto fire. Thanks! Hopefully someday! I have an extra Genesis, so ideally I'd love to make a swap.

I'll do my best! Atari 2600 NES Sega Genesis Nintendo 64 Sega Dreamcast Xbox (it's modded but I can't figure out how to load anything on it, so I let a buddy try to fix it for me but he hasn't cracked the code either & I don't have it back yet. ) Nintendo Game Cube Xbox 360 (2) PS3 Xbox One Nintendo DS Atari Flashback 2 I would LOVE an SNES, as I never had one and would love to play some of those classics. I had a PS1 & PS2, but gave those away once I became hooked on the 360. I sold my Wii (blech) & the PS3 was bought mainly as a Blu-Ray player & for MLB: The Show. I'm addicted to unlocking achievements on the Xbox (a thread for another time) so aside from dipping into the retro pool on occasion, the entirety of my gaming is done on the XBO & 360 (still).

FYI, the 2600 gets mentioned in the "Heavy Medal" episode.

It's so great that you're a part of the forum Mrs. Fergie!
My daughter is obsessed with reading & I think she wants to explore working in the field either as a bookstore owner or perhaps librarian. I can't wait to tell her I know a real-life librarian now!

I am so glad to hear that Ferg and his podcast were helpful to you when things were tough for you. When Ferg started this podcast I (and Ferg I think) never thought that it would have such a great impact in listeners lives and that this wonderful community would be the result but I am happy that it has! So am I! Ferg is THE MAN & I'm so grateful for the opportunity to "get to know" him & so many of the listeners.

Four guys (comedians, TV writers & their friends) create arbitrary musical genres & then break them down. They are funny, sometimes crude (most episodes are NSFW or for listening around younger children) and the guys are really smart. Here are some genres: - Bald Metal (my favorite): lost hair metal songs
- Divorcecore: "the 80’s trend of Boomer artists writing slickly produced hit songs about divorce and lost faith in the ideals of youth.…"
- Guyarrhea: "a musical journey through his visit to Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen and Bar using a genre of mediocre, overly flavored music.…"
- These Guys Probably F***ed": "The guys count down songs that lead you think the performers might have made love to each other.…"
In addition to the podcast, the crew created a web show in the mid 2000's where they coined the term "Yacht Rock" (a genre of music which I happen to love, as it brings me back to days of the 2600).
The podcast, web show & other goodies can be found here:

Hi, my name is StormSurge, I mean Matt & I like Atari.
Like most of Ferg's demo, I'm in my early 40s & grew up in the halcyon days of the late 70's, early 80's. In my mind, I'll always be stuck there.
I can't remember exactly when I got my Atari 2600 but I'm pretty sure it was in 1981. I played it before then at an uncle's house but that's when I had my own.
I have so many specific memories of playing games & acquiring games. One of my favorite parts of the 2600 GBG Podcast is hearing everyone else's memories.
I gave away my system & games (ARRRRGHH!) in the summer of 1985, as I was 12 & "outgrew" it. I moved onto the NES the following summer & by the mid-90's, horribly regretted my decision to give away all my toys and started reacquiring them.
Thankfully the market for 2600 games at that time was awesome. Plenty of availability & dirt cheap prices. Not only did I find all the games I used to have but I was able to get ones I always wanted and never had.
I discovered the podcast in early 2014 at a time in my life when I was probably at my lowest. Ferg (& his listeners!) almost single-handedly pulled me out of the mire and made me realize there are lots of things to be happy and grateful for. My passion for the 2600 was rekindled and the overwhelming sense of nostalgia I feel when listening to each episode is glorious.
Thank you so much Ferg for everything & thanks to all the listeners who provide such awesome feedback every episode!
