+10 bonus points for opening the sealed game! i know opinions vary, but a game is only a game if it's played, if it's sealed then it's just a box...

Cool to see that you got a Stargate game and not the later Defender II nonsense. I love that game. It is such an upgrade from the original Defender. Night and day, really.

This post is a bit out of order, because the "postie" hasn't yet "been," but I'm so excited about this lot I scored that will arrive today or tomorrow, that I can barely stand myself! EBay search this number: 323286221645 (I didn't want to post a big yucky link) Seventeen new additions to my collection, including "Tape Worm." This I'm especially excited about, because I'll be able to submit scores for this week's High Score Challenge on real hardware! Also Kaboom, which previously was not in my collection - I mean, seriously! And many of the dupes in this lot I've included in a sale lot with a Vader console (I still have my 4-switch Woody) which will more than offset the cost of this purchase. Yeeeee!!

I was thrilled to get this mixed in a lot. I was a little worried it would be a PAL cart (couldn't see the end label in the auction). There seems to be quite a few of those in the US. But it looks like it's good ole NTSC!

Are car boot sales of classic games common? Usually the only thing I recall seeing in car boot sales are munitions. In films of course.

i think you just call them yard sales over there? over here people don't tend to sell their old gear on the pavement* outside the house, instead they load up their crap in the car* on a weekend and drive onto a field* with a bunch of other people all doing the same, when they get there they open their car boot*, then lob* everything onto a rickety paste table that sags in the middle, and charge wildly varying amounts of quids* for it all, none of which reflect the actual value of the objects they're selling... modern games are usually pretty easy to find, but the classic stuff is getting very thin on the ground nowadays...
*translation from English to Simplified English* pavement = sidewalk car = automobile (see Fozzie's uncle's Studebaker for more details) field = sportsball pitch boot = trunk lob = gently place quid = a unit of fundage similar to the dollar, minus the religious statement, but including a picture of a pensioner that no one voted for
(the games market is a completely different thing... picture, if you will, a classic games expo, now take away the pinball machines, arcade cabs, "celebs", discussions & panels, etc until all you're left with is a room full of vendors... that's pretty much what the games markets are like around here... they used to happen once a year, now it's every few months, sometimes with the addition of toy vendors and collectibles stalls)

My Obelix / Asterix are only PAL releases I thought both of those games were only released in England -- i.e. that there were no NTSC versions. Were they merely left unissued in America?
