I wanted to give a 'shout out' (I hate that expression) to this series of books by Michael Salzman.
You may have come across some of his 'Companion' books (Activision Companion, Arcade Companion etc) but these are in the format of a magazine with a number of articles about the 2600. They are only around 30-35 pages each, so they don't work out cheap, but they are worthwhile in my opinion. I mean, where else can you get a current print 'magazine' about a 40 year old console ?
He seems to be bringing these out monthly, which is admirable, and I hope this continues. There are six so far. I only have two but have ordered the others.
Here are the US and UK links to the first edition. You can use the 'Look Inside' option to get an idea of what to expect.
The other downside (apart from the price) is that those of us who chose to boycot Amazon, *cough* *me* have no option here as these are 'print on demand' books from Amazon only

I agree it is a great magazine. I have read 5 of 6 so far but I use the kindle unlimited to read them digitally on my tablet. I also support his patreon so I get the trading card each month and my name in the issue which is a bonus to supporting such a great effort. To me that is money will spent as I have learned something new in each issue and see how relevant the console still is after all these years.

I don't use Amazon either, or "shout out" (I think it comes from Yo! MTV Raps -- I can't believe it's still in circulation, but then, I'm bugged in general by imitative language among adults who are capable of forming their own thoughts with a second's worth of extra time, and that's not a "THING"......phewwwww), but by this point in this circuitous sentence, I can't even remember why I'm posting. Surely it wasn't just to bitch about others. I don't want to be a curmudgeon! You'll never take me alive, cynicism! (Clutching my Shangri-Las records) Oh, yeah. Good for him. Anyone writing about one of our favorite fixations is okay in my book. I'm just not going to be able to read his. Not until I can inevitably buy the whole collection used off someone who needs cash in five years.

Curmudgeons of the world unite ! Actually, I can't be bothered
It is difficult to avoid Amazon sometimes. I do get my books from a bookshop *gasp* and Blu Rays from a media shop (only get the occasional one that I really like and want to keep) - but as these things are printed by Amazon then there is little one can do
