I love the idea of the junk box but I pretty much eradicated all my junk before the move. And I really love the idea of the AMA!!!

The only Flashback I ever bought was last year's portable. I have never bought one of the TV units. However, this year's 8 Gold or 8 Gold Activision edition may make me pull the trigger. But the RetroN 77 looks sweet too, but they may have to bring the price down from $80 for me to be on board. Either way, I am glad Atari interest amongst other gamers (not just us here on Ferg's forums or over at AtariAge) is trending up a bit, even if it is ever so slightly.
Also, high five to Ferg for not having a HDMI-compliant TV. Living the dream in Standard DEF!

I have the Flashback 2 & portable as well. I'm definitely interested in the Retron 77 & perhaps the FB 8 Gold. Unlike Ferg, I'm hooked on HD. Like snobbish, refusing to watch anything in standard def because it's too blurry. 4K is next up to take full advantage of my Xbox One S (& most likely at some point the XBO X). That said, I have my standard def TV 📺 for my 2600, NES & Genesis game time.

Ferg, I enjoyed the news update! Looks like a whole new batch of Atari fans may in our future. You noticed my two games weren't on this years Flashback 8's, thanks for noticing. The inside scoop is that they licensed it for only the years spanning from 2013 thru 2016. This was a deal they had with 'Good Deal Games', authorized by myself and another author who's set of games also appeared on them, 'Good Deal Games' AKA Homebrew Heaven was the vendor that put them out on cartridge back in 2009. I did enjoy the nerd credit for being on them, but I'm kind of relieved since they kept using the same old broken emulator which causes a scoring display bug. Nukey Shea fixed them both so they can be downloaded from the AtariAge forum for Flashback Portable hacks and played on the current Flashback. If they keep putting them on the market year after year, I hope that they'll at least license a better emulator like Stella. For me, the portable as broken as it is, was still a must have for the games that did work, and the SD card support... Like you, I had a Flashback 2 and probably wouldn't have purchased any others until the ones with my own games on them came out. I'm not planning on purchasing a future one unless it the TV version starts to support the SD card (like the portable) and uses better emulation, it would be very close to paring the original console with a harmony cart! I'd also gladly purchase another portable if they upgraded it with a better emulator.

Nice episode. I was surprised to hear you mention that John's games would be missing. The Activision model of the new Flashback is tempting, I must say.
