Hi all,
I'm Perry, I go by Tinman over on AtariAge. We got our Atari 2600 back around 1982 or so (I think!), I do remember we got Space Invaders (my favorite game at the time) with it, along with Asteroids and Missile Command. It was a great Christmas that year! We quickly picked up a few more games along the way, although we never had a ton of them (too expensive) and I didn't really have a large collection until I started again maybe 10-15 years ago or so. I also got an Atari 800 not long after that, where I improved my programming skills making dumb games and other useless software. I had previously learned to code on a Commodore PET, but learned a lot more on the Atari. Several of my friends had Commodore 64s, so we had the usual arguments over which system was better. One of my friends had an Intellivision, so of course, we compared that system to the 2600, as most of us probably did...
My favorite all-time video game ever anywhere is still Star Raiders on the 800, but on the 2600 it's a tie between Adventure and Starmaster (which I like better than the 2600 version of Star Raiders). In case anyone cares, my favorite Intellivision game is Sea Battle.
I grew up in California but now live down in Florida. I was in IT for many, many years, but got laid off a couple of years ago. Since then I was doing patio and landscape construction as a way to earn a little cash and keep busy, but I've recently decided to get back into IT if I can find a job...
I've been listening to Ferg for quite some time now. When I first found the podcast, I went back and listened to most of the previous episodes and have enjoyed reminiscing about games I used to enjoy (and still do, though now days on Stella or the AFP), and hearing about games I never played.
Glad to be here and hope to hear from you all!
