I recently updated K.C.'s Crazy Nightmare! now v13 (see how long the Odyssey2 character can live on the Atari 2600!!!) Get it here: tacticalneuronics.com/content/KCsCrazyNightmare.aspI'm working with some folks on the AtariAge forums to see if the 6 digit scoring bug (first digit reflects 3rd digit) on the two games of mine that come with teh flashbacks (Strip Off and Shield Shifter) so we may get these two games working right for the Portable SD card. Also they have posted fixes and controls for many games that can be played on the Portable here: atariage.com/forums/topic/259166-flashback-portable-needed-controller-hacks/page-11?hl=%2Bportable+%2Bfix#entry3689058If you liked Strip-Off, stay tuned... I recently finished 'Strip Off 2' with 16 Game Variations and the alien can now shoot back! I'm working with someone on a possible real cart release, more on that when I have details! Thanks, John

Okay... I need real help! I'm having more fun making games for the Atari 2600 than playing games on my XBOX One!!! Revisiting my K.C.'s Crazy Nightmare recently and listening to the "Select Game" Podcast ignited a spark in me last week that I'm happy to report has resulted in another 2600 game inspired by my old trusty Odyssey 2. UFO - Link: tacticalneuronics.com/content/UFO.aspThis was the Odyssey 2's answer to Asteroids and I lost weeks of my life playing it when it first came out! Now the Atari 2600 has its own homebrew variant (some artistic liberties have been taken to make it fit in 4k) but I believe I have come close to the spirit of the games essence. For the record - I posted its existence here first!!! Like K.C. it doesn't play well on the portable (too complex for its flawed emulator) but it works great in Stella, and on the original hardware via the harmony Cart! Enjoy! John

i just downloaded this too, thanks John... thanks to the 7800 Homebrew podcast (hi Sean), i still have my Videopac plugged in next to my 7800 after recently playing and comparing the homebrew of KC Munchkin to the original, so i'll set myself up a little session for the weekend and do a similar playtest comparison of UFO... if anything it will take my mind off being stuck on Hyper Metroid due to my inability to wall jump, i just can't do it, i mean, i keep trying, i nearly did it once, i've watched videos, i know the technique, but try as i might i just can't do it, and after 7 very enjoyable hours of play into the game i can't escape from the wrecked ship because some sadist designer decided that the only way out involves wall jumping up a shaft, a shaft that has a puddle at the bottom to stop anyone using the morph ball bomb jump thing... what's that all about eh!

Sounds like you need a Action Replay Game Shark kind of solution!

you might be right... i'm using an everdrive, so i suppose i could use the game genie codes... but that's cheating innit! anyway, i've prepped my game session for the weekend, copied UFO to my harmony cart, and also realised i don't need to use a flash cart for the videopac cos i have the original cart...

aaaaaand, i finally got round to playing UFO after prising myself away from Link to the Past on the SNES (i've had the game for years and never played more than 15 minutes of it until last week (thanks to the nudge by the Stone Age Gamer podcast), today i collected the 2nd of those weird turnip looking things, it's taken me a few days of gameplay but i'm having fun) anyway, UFO... it plays very well, but different enough that i can't use the same method of play that i use when playing the videopac (O2) version, on that version i try to avoid shooting and instead i ram the enemies with my shielded ship, however, on the VCS version this technique tends to get me killed more often than not, i think because there's less of the rotating pixels that make up the shield and therefore more chance of accidentally touching the enemies with my ship... also, when shooting, the shots don't fire in a straight line on the VCS like they do on the videopac, they kinda curve and follow the rotation of the shield, so it's more of a challenge, this isn't a bad thing, i'm just having to adjust my playing style to the changes... i definitely enjoyed the games i had of it (only 10 minutes or so in total so far) and i'll definitely be playing more of it, cheers John, keep up the excellent work

thanks for sharing john, i've downloaded the file, but i'll be saving it for the weekend so i can re-acquaint myself with the videopac cart before i play yours properly via harmony... i did check it out quickly on your site though, it looks like you kept the gameplay intact... the only real difference i could see at a glance was that you'd changed the alternating / stepped platforms to a symmetrical layout, which completely makes sense for the vcs... i'm looking forward to spending some time with it... cheers

(see original post, I have attached the newest version) I hope you enjoy it! You'll find the videopack version has more boulders and they move in more directions. Also my version only allows jumping, no diving like the original. Just couldn't get everything to fit in 4K including some climbing and falling animations which looked pretty cool, but ultimately, I had to make compromises that distilled things down to the basic elements of what made the game fun. I may do an 8K version in the future.

Updated Hand Pick Hank to version 20170415. I'm not planning additional changes unless a game breaking bug is found.
