listened to this while working today and was pleasantly surprised to hear mention of the band Crass, they can be a little harsh on the ears of the uninitiated but they are a band that truly changed my view of the world... love them!
i also love getting unexpected podcasts showing up on my ipod, so thank you Ferg for the gift of audio...
Another great Christmas episode! Thank you so much Ferg for doing these.
A few miscellaneous comments:
I used to play the chimes as needed in middle-school and high-school band. Cool instrument, fun to play, and adds a lot of character to the music.
My wife lived in Germany for a few years, and has fond memories of the Christmas traditions and foods there, things which she has shared with me and our kids. This includes pfeffernüsse (which she likes to dip in some nice hot glühwein; not me though, I have a thing against dipping cookies in beverages... on the side is good, pairs very well with the glühwein). She's not a fan of stollen, though, she said the stollen she had in Germany was very dry.
I've tried making chocolate chip cookies a few times since when my story took place, and none have been nearly as good. Lacking the Christmas magic, I suspect.
I love the Christmas episodes and this years was no exception. I listened to the previous three again while wrapping presents a couple of weeks ago. I feel a new tradition starting ! Hope everyone is having a good break from work (if you're lucky enough to get one, unlike Bob Strudders ). Thanks for doing what you do Mr Ferg. Glad you're not the tight-fisted taskmaster you used to be !
