Welcome back, Ferg!! Glad you took the breather you needed in order to feel AtarRefreshed.
What a superb comeback episode, too. This is a bit abstract, but the games themselves seem to have encouraged your return, considering that you've unexpectedly discovered a new favorite. Must have provided a pleasant way to get back into it! That's what's behind all of this, after all: It's fun to play video games! It might seem awfully obvious, but oddly enough, it occasionally gets slightly lost among all of our assessments and analyses.

Hi Chris Looks like you pipped Ferg to the post Welcome back Ferg !! Made some notes when listening to the podcast. You sounded warmed up and ready to go ! I guess because you still do other podcasts ? You we’re talking about getting depressed after Christmas. I think a lot of people do. After all Jan/ Feb is depressing what with the grey weather. I use a SAD lamp in those months and it seems to help a bit. I laughed out loud to your L5 gag !! Geeky 2600 jokes rule ! Antidepressants, mmm... a tricky subject. I have quite a lot of personal experience. I’m still on the fence about them. I have had lots of side effect issues, but some success. My issue is that doctors can have a very narrow minded view of depression and can throw drugs at people as a ‘quick fix’ to get them out of the door. In my own experience though it meant a pituitary problem was missed for years and a many of my issues turned out to be hormone related. Subsequently I was dosed up with a few meds (and many tried and failed ones) and withdrawal is a real long struggle. I hope your experience turns out better. Back on subject (Malagai) - I too liked the ‘music’. I think of it more as semi-randomly generated sounds. I remember when I first started programming BASIC I would write these random routines to play sounds. They had quite a similar effect, although I realise the ones in Malagai change with the direction you move. Anyway, I guess it would have been good to have an option to switch them off for those who find them annoying (but preserving the alert sound when the aliens are chasing you ?). We need a hack ! With a lovely label by Don Crosswhite In fact, I thought that when listening to the episode and lo and behold he said the same in his audio submission ! Finally - was a nice celebration of the people we lost from the music industry since the last episode. Not sure I could recognise them all though. Great to have the podcast back Ferg. It means a lot to me, as I’m sure it does many others.

The "music" from Malagai was our prom theme. It drove everyone barking mad and we turned on each other like rabid wolves. It was a crucible of bloody tuxedos and severed mullets.
Welcome back, Ferg!

I have been on the road for the last five weeks, and I come back to this great news.
All is right with the world (except for Trump and Brexit).

Yeah, it's ridiculous that impeachment proceedings are being attempted against Trump. It doesn't matter -- he'll win another term, and once again, I'll find the videos of crying feminists arousing. I don't know much about Brexit, though. Is that commonly frowned upon by Britons, Strudders, or are most in favor of it?

Unfortunately Brexit is as divisive as Trump - so two strongly opposing camps.
Good job we have things like Ferg’s show to bask us in the warm glow of nostalgia !

Or at least the warm glow of escapism, if one doesn't tend toward nostalgia! I admit that I don't even watch the news -- I get all of my news from comedians. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Welcome back, Ed -- where all did you go? A month is a long time to be away from home!
