Hi Gang, First off I would like to say a big thanks to Ferg and Mrs. Ferguson the librarian for all the time and effort they put in on this podcast! It is truly appreciated! Whenever a new episode of the 2600 GBG podcast shows up it always gets bumped to the top of my playlist. I've been a listener since the first or second episode and I believe I found out about the podcast by listening to Flack's great YDKF podcast.
My quick Atari story as I remember it... I'm not sure what year we (I have two older brothers) received our 2600 for Christmas but it had to be pretty early as it was a heavy sixer. Not knowing much about it at the time I don't think I knew what I was in for. We played countless games of Combat, Air-Sea Battle & the Sears version of Space War, Space Combat. Over the years I would acquired many games for it, the "crash years" were good to me! Fast forward to today and all of those games and the system are gone. However one thing remains... Every year on Christmas day my Dad would save one special gift for myself, my two brothers and my Mom that he would give to us on Christmas night after all of the days festivities had died down. Well I still have one of those gifts to this very day, An Arcadia (Not Starpath) Supercharger with Phasor Patrol and Commie Mutants from Space. Don't ask me how I've held on to that all these years when all of the other stuff is long gone because I simply don't know. A few years ago I picked up another 2600 and I still use that Supercharger that I received on Christmas night so many years ago to this very day! What makes this extra special to me is that I no longer have my parents and as silly as this sounds that Supercharger always reminds me of them. I'm not a huge collector of carts but I do pick up games from time to time and many of those have come and gone but I can say that I will never ..ever sell that Supercharger.
Other boring facts about myself... I'm married to an amazing women who I adore and we have two awesome kids together. We also have a crazy 4 year old cat named Gus who we rescued and black lab named Maddie. Maddie will be 12 in December and she is hands down the best dog I've ever had! I love music and played Bass in a 3 to 4 gig a week cover band since the end of high school up until about 10 years ago (I'm 45). The band days are long gone but I do play in my church band (Yeah I know I didn't see that coming either)! My main Bass is an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 and a 1969 Ampeg Dan Armstong Bass (clear Lucite plastic) It looks awesome but the sound leaves something to be desired. I have a small game room in my basement with a few arcade games, a recently added pinball and of course my Atari 2600. My wife claims she has no idea what's going on down there!
That's all for now, I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm really looking forward to the forums and excited to chat with everyone! Thanks again Ferg for all you do. Your podcast is like an old friend to me, RUP

Touching story Rup. And it sounds like you have quite a man-cave! What arcade games have you got ? +1 for seeing pet pictures Maybe Ferg needs to create a new category I have a 1 year old cat called Jiji. Have been nagging my wife to get one for years (as I grew up with cats) but she was not a 'cat person'. Now we have a cat she is the biggest cat fan in the world !

By the way I'm a big fan of your segment on the show! You and the Mini do a fantastic job! As far as my games go I have a Space Invaders, Mat Mania, Sprint 2, Donkey Kong, a Dynamo Jamma cab with a 60 in 1 in it and a 1974 Gottlieb "Duotron" em pinball machine.

Thanks RUP. Very kind of you. Been a bit busy/distracted for the past few episodes to contribute but hopefully that will change over the coming weeks ! I am very jealous of your cab collection ! If I could pick one machine to get next it would be DK. And your game room looks spotless ! Have the machines been restored ? They look in great condition. In the UK we have to pay a hell of a lot for cabs in that condition. You're probably talking about the equivalent of about $3000 for a good condition DK machine. Not something I can justify! I suppose we just don't have that many floating around in the UK and what there is are already in the hands of collectors Your pets are lovely ! That picture of your cat is hilarious. Really looks like he saying "Can't a cat get a beer around here !"

+1 for rescue cat +1 for the basses +1 for the DK cab (you got the D2K and high score mod in there?) +1 for the 60 in 1 (you can't go wrong with Juno First, although the sound on that lil board could be better)

Thanks guys! Yes I have restored most of them, I really enjoy that aspect of the hobby even though I still have a lot to learn. For the most part I look for games that aren't working and bring them back. Seems like that's where the best deals are. Cleaning up the cab and restoring the artwork is one of my favorite parts. As far as the DK upgrade goes no I haven't put that kit in but I'd like to at some point. I did however put the Braze Tech Hi score save / multi kit in my Space Invaders. Wow Strudders I didn't realize cabs were that expensive over there! That's a bummer but I'd like to know what's in the Strudders man cave? And Ferg... Could we some pics of you guitars???

*snip* I did however put the Braze Tech Hi score save / multi kit in my Space Invaders. i did the high score save / screen flip mod to my Mr Do PCB, it's not a kit as such, just a hacked rom set, and frankly it's pretty flaky, but nice to not need to keep a notepad next to the game whenever i play it... Strudders speaks the truth... dedicated cabs at decent prices are pretty hard to find here in the UK... however, generic jamma cabs can still be had pretty cheap, especially empty / project cabs... all three of mine were gameless and monitorless when i bought them and ranged from £15 to £50, the monitors are the hardest thing to get over here but luckily in the UK and Europe we've got a surplus of CRT warm chocolate puddin' scart TVs that do the job perfectly well and people are happy to give them away free just to get rid of them...
