I'll have a go... TRS80 Model 100 (my latest purchase, been after one of these vintage 'laptops' for a while) *snip* Taito Lunar Rescue cabinet (pride and joy of my Man-Cave) *snip* I also have a small collection of handheld games and about 50 Tomy Pocketfulls (Pocketeers in UK). I love those things ! how is the model 100? i very nearly bought one at Play Blackpool a few years ago but didn't know all that much about it or if the price was good or not, regretted it ever since cos it was cheaper than any i've seen since... i have three arcade cabs i didn't add to my list, all generic jamma cabs, 2 upright and a cocktail... none of which i can play atm because they're buried behind / under boxes of gaming detritus... if i can be arsed i'll list my jamma boards later i'm insanely jealous of the pocketeers, i remember getting them given to me to keep me occupied on trips to Filey during summer holidays... what my parents were thinking when they decided to do that is anyone's guess, playing them while travelling only increased my incredibly predictable motion sickness... i have no idea what happened to any of mine, i remember having at least ten of them given to me over the space of a few years, but i don't remember ever having more than one in my possession at any given point in time...

I was going to say that you must have a massive place ! House moves are always good for getting you to downsize a collection (or bad if you get rid of stuff in the heat of the moment and you now regret ) I guess it depends on where one is right now regarding - space/finances/obsession with collecting - as to how much 'stuff ' we have. I have changed my attitude over the years and have decided to just collect for Atari 2600 now.

I have changed my attitude over the years and have decided to just collect for Atari 2600 now. i tried downsizing once... never again! about 10 years ago i gave away almost everything i had that could be emulated, to a friend who was trying to kick an alcohol addiction... the idea was that it would busy his head enough to distract him from the grog, and empty my house enough so i could set up my home studio and record some songs... he mostly stopped drinking and i got the songs recorded, but i missed all the consoles and games i'd given away, so i started buying replacements... and then my friend went and had a heart attack and died, so his family insisted that not only should i take back everything i'd passed on to him, but that i should have almost everything he'd collected for himself too... it took 2 journeys to pick it all up, 140 mile round trip each time... i told myself i'd never get rid of anything ever again unless i had spares, i also made a rule for myself that i will never sell anything that i've been given... hence the hoard... another thing i regret is moving house and realising a few weeks later that i'd left an IBM XT in my cellar, along with a bunch of 486 based terminals i used to use for Doom LAN sessions... i also left a bass amp and 2x12 cab somewhere in the house (unless the removal men nicked it)... as for collecting, i don't consider myself a collector at all, i don't care on condition or boxes etc, i just grab games so i can play them (or if i can't find a specific game at a sensible price, i'll make one from a different game... i refuse to pay "retro" prices)... of course, if i've played a game on a flash cart and liked it, and then see it for pennies at a car boot then i'll pick it up and pop it on the shelf, it'd be rude not to... but i'm not a collector!

would anyone mind if i mentioned that the one and only Nuon i have ever seen and played on was Jeff Minter's very own unit, and i was playing Tempest 3000 (of course) while Jeff gave me play tips... a memory to treasure! (i was too excited to remember much of what he said, but it was along the lines of "shoot shit! avoid other shit!" etc)

That's a sad story about your friend I like your attitude to 'collecting'. Hopefully one day you'll get enough room to unpack all the boxes etc ! The Model 100 is great. I had a saved search on ebay for a year or so and eventually found one in very good condition for a reasonalble price. Some were going for £200+ with yellowed cases and leaked battery compartments. This one is as mint as I can hope for and came with the faux leather case and an accoustic coupler modem ! I need to make up a null modem cable and try to transfer stuff to and from a PC. Just a bit of fun really. Lovely keyboard though. As for the Pocketeers (Pocketfuls in US) - I got them all in cheap ebay lots many years ago. I too had them as a kid and they were all lost over time except one odd German one I have, called Love and Luck, where you have to kiss a girl. Basically it uses the same mechanism as Fruit Machine, with different graphics. My kids love playing with them too.

Right now, the only true console I have is a late-model Atari 7800. At least I'm guessing it's late because 1) there's no hint that there ever was going to be an expansion module (no slot, no cutout, no nothing), and 2) so far it's played everything I've thrown at it, including the Activision games that technically shouldn't work and the Supercharger. I have a RetroDuo Portable but since 1) that's a handheld and 2) I'm looking to sell it and replace it with one of those GPD handhelds, I guess it doesn't count. I've had in the past: - Atari 2600 woodgrain four-switch. My brother and I got it for Christmas in 1982, Had to replace it a week or two later because the left controller port stopped working. - Vectrex -- I think I got that around 1984. My cousins had it and got bored with it so they handed it down to me. A few years later I handed it down to another (younger) cousin. Wish I hadn't now, as I don't really talk to my cousins much any more (no reason, just kinda lost touch). Heh...I did see that cousin at my grandmother's funeral in 2009 and just couldn't get over that he wasn't that bratty 7-year-old I remember. However, I didn't feel that our grandmother's funeral wasn't exactly the best time to bring it up: "Say, uhh...you wouldn't still happen to have that Vectrex, would you?" I had five CIB games -- and I mean *CIB*, man -- box, overlays, paper sleeves that the overlays were in, etc. Off the top of my head, I remember Berzerk, Night Hawk, Scramble, Clean Sweep, and Star Trek. I was never a Star Trek fan, but the reason I had that was that I heard that a store in my area (the store was at a place called Carriage Lane Mall, which was HARDLY a mall, just a tiny selection of mom-and-popo stores in an enclosed building) suddenly got a huge stock of Star Trek carts that they were selling for cheap (I think five bucks), and since it was a cartridge for Vectrex and I'd been playing the same five games over and over (Mine Storm is built in to the console), I nagged my dad into taking me to that store. Those were really the only consoles I owned back then. In 2006 my wife and I were apart for nearly a year (I had just gotten a promotion that moved me out of state and she had to stay behind to finish her master's degree), so between visits I'd pass my free time by playing Atari stuff and buying cheap lots off eBay, and during that time I owned a heavy sixer or two and a junior. I had a Junior again for a short time (that's actually my favorite of the various incarnations of the 2600) but fried it when I tried to do the pause button mod, and eventually I got a Vader that I did an AV mod on and eventually gave away. For a year or two I had a 5200. Got it as a pastime when I got laid off in 2012 and...just never liked it, primarily because its size was too big and clunky, and secondarily because of....(say it with me!)...the controller. (Didn't even like the Wico Command Control stick.) Only had a few games for it. Earlier in the year I wanted an NES, but when I got one I didn't have it for long, mainly because I just...didn't really care much for it, and right now extra room in the apartment is at a premium. (I don't understand why...it's just my wife, my beagle, and myself, and we have a three-bedroom apartment! And we're not hoarders!) So...that's my console history...although freakin' Opcode is almost making me want a ColecoVision!!

i just got a new addition to my list... my Famicom arrived from Japan today... ooh, and Sean, if you're still pondering a colecovision, i can recommend one of these (i did the testing and edited the "manual"), not sure how the postage would be to you, but the price of the cart itself is a steal

Here's what I have today:
Atari 2600 (4 switch woody, Light & Heavy 6ers) Atari 7800 Atari 400 Atari Jaguar Atari Flashback 2 Colecovision Flashback Microsoft Xbox Microsoft Xbox 360 Nintendo Wii
I've had some others in the past, such as the NES and Dreamcast, but I'm only allocated such much space in the house for such things. I also have a few projects that are more "computer" than "console" focused.
