When you were listing some of the various NAMCO games that have the Galaxian flagship, I kept thinking, "Wait for it...wait for it..."
And for the good of all humanity, Ferg did the right thing.

Regarding the pronounciation of "Galaga:" - I have always, always, always heard it pronounced "GAL ə gə." - I've only known of two people to pronounce it "gə LAH gə": Jimmy G, and some guy who gave a talking head interview in the film Chasing Ghosts. Now...according to Jason Eckert, whose blog entry about it is here -- triosdevelopers.com/jason.eckert/blog/Entries/2012/7/14_Entry_1.html -- according to a retired Midway employee he talked to, it's pronounced "gə LAG ə" ("lag" rhyming with "nag"). BUT...when Jimmy G and I interviewed Brian Colin, who worked at Midway himself, "We always pronounced it 'GAL ə gə.' I don't know how the people on the floor BELOW us pronounced it, but that's how *we* said it." And, true story...Beatlefest 1996 in Rosemont, IL...my first 'Fest...I and a bunch of other people were jamming....and at one point we did "What's The New Mary Jane." It had to be about 2am at this point. The on-duty manager came over and shut us down. One of the guys in our group said that there are three songs that would guarantee your jam session would get shut down after midnight: "Helter Skelter," "Cold Turkey," and "What's The New Mary Jane."

I forgot the nuances about what Brian said, thank you. Do you like What's The New Mary Jane? I liked it when I got Sessions, that was my first Beatleg, but as the years went by it started to grate on me, like Hey Jude but worse. That song and the extended Flying are skippers for me, at least Flying had the good sense to stay unreleased.

Well, I'll put it to you this way...I don't _hate_ "What's The New Mary Jane."
Is it maybe the weirdness (and unendingness) of the studio version that you don't like?? Have you heard the demo version?? Perhaps the demo is more tolerable because it's just John (an octave higher!) and his acoustic guitar, and that's it...and that was before he Spoonerized some of the lyrics, too.
