I was thrilled to find that I actually had a spare iPod transfer cable in my bag, so I downloaded the podcast during my lunch break; listening to it now!
Seriously, Ferg, you're a really good interviewer. I know in earlier episodes you expressed...I guess timidity...about interviewing, but you do a helluva job.

i agree with the previous two posts, another excellent interview that sounded very relaxed (including some wonderful stories)... very nice to hear a bit of Primus and Wall of Voodoo too... looking forward to grabbing a bit of time to play the game in the next few days, i re-formatted my Harmony SD yesterday so all my files are nicely organised, i also gave my paddle and spinner controllers a service the other week so i should have a judder-free session... (btw, is anyone else still using scsi drives on a regular basis or is it just me?)

Haven't used a SCSI drive since I got rid of my Amiga 4000 circa 2003. I replaced it with a microAmigaOne, which was IDE-based. Still have a couple of SCSI terminators I keep meaning to put on eBay!

my first ever hard drive was a 1gb scsi, also for an amiga (A1500), i got it super cheap cos the bearings in it sounded like a jet engine, man that thing was loud!

By the dubs, Ferg...the "episode"...you're talking about in the end....will you be accepting listener feedback for that, or do you just want to keep it solo? (And my question when you first started talking about it was, "Ooh, is it going to be in the same feed?" I don't care what feed you put it in -- just tell us what you decide. )

I don't care what feed you put it in -- just tell us what you decide. what Sean said! i'm pretty sure we all respect whatever decisions you want to make... and although a separate feed may be more suitable for other topics, i can understand how a single feed for everything is the path of least resistance... so yeah, do what makes sense to you and just let us know... *why is there no "thumbs up" emote on this forum?*

No thumbs-up?? What's wrong with just "like"ing a post???

nothing, only i like to use the occasional thumb's up as punctuation, just as i would use a smiley

Thank you guys. I will be putting whatever I do into the feed, you can always delete it if you don't want to listen to it. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, thank you for that. You can look forward to such topics as, paperboys! Batman! Bowling! The mind boggles.

That interview was fantastic. Really, it's one of the most enjoyable tech-related interviews I've heard. Great, great stuff, up there with the best of the ANTIC Podcast interviews. Joe Grand seems to embody the Hacker Ethic, as described in the Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution by Steven Levy. I came across that book while researching my Wolfenstein 3D episode, being something that heavily influenced developer John Carmack. It covers the history of electronics/computer hacking, largely beginning with the Tech Model Railroad Club at MIT (mentioned briefly in the interview). There's a surprising amount about Atari in that book, too: not a flattering picture of the Warner-owned company itself, but some love for the 8-bit computers, John Harris, and the story of the Jawbreaker game.

Joe Grand came across as really smart (obviously!) and really fun. Again, great interview Ferg!
