thank you... it was most distressing... the new one is sat in the hands of a friend, just need to work out whether to trust it in the mail, or to wait til the next time we meet, which could be months... watch this space

I stopped in my store on Monday, and it turns out someone turned in their collection! I managed to pick up a bunch of carts I haven't seen in the wild before. Even more exciting, they told me at the store that there's another box for them to go through, so they likely will have more Atari stuff later this week. Going back Friday; fingers crossed! In case anyone's wondering why Combat is in there, it's the numbered end label - "01 combat". I love the numbered launch carts. This is my 5th one. Still looking for "03 starship", "12 street racer", "21 video olympics", and "51 blackjack". As for me, I'm queuing up episodes 38 (King Kong) & 64 (Cross Force) to learn about those carts!

Very nice and a few quite rare titles ! Frostbite is excellent in my opinion. Wonder what you make of Donkey Kong vs King Kong ? Both have awful graphics for the gorilla that's for sure !

A couple of PALs arrived from Germany ! I don't think Hell Driver was ever released in the US but Cosmic Town was released as Z-Tack by Bomb.

some pickups i forgot to post lately... ------ firstly, further to my mention of my dead colecovision further up this page, i had a replacement sent to me by Vic Marland (ten pence arcade podcast, it's great, subscribe), just the console though, everything else i had still worked fine... (and yes, that 7800 pad IS plugged into the bottom of the CV controller, what kind of idiot uses the CV controller to actually play games?) ------- secondly, i picked this little lot up from one of the semi regular retro markets that take place in and around Leeds, where i live... i know the vcs games are common as muck, but i didn't own them... do now ------ lastly, a few pickups from a local car boot sale... (i'm especially pleased with the VFD game)

As always iddod, you win the prize for the most booty plundered ! Not sure about the Electron book though. Do you suffer from insomnia ?! I cleaned and tested my two PAL arrivals. Nothing special though. Hell driver is a bit like Grand Prix. Half the screen is a bit pointless though, as the cars are oncoming ! Cosmic Town has some nice colourful graphics but is just not that exciting to play. Oh well, two for the collection though !

That's what I've done with a few Atari carts in the past (mostly down to me not deleting an eBay saved search once I buy a game !). So, you have a history with the Electron ? Or you just can't help buying 'stuff' ?

So, you have a history with the Electron ? Or you just can't help buying 'stuff' ? the first puter i "owned" was a beeb model b in '84 (it was stolen and i looked after it in my bedsit for 6 months til the heat died down), i think i got my first electron just after the amiga years, it was a cheap way to play chuckie egg again, wasn't long after that that i got a proper beeb again... (currently in the process of buying my 3rd beeb, cos my current two are both shagged)

Ah, so you were an Acorn boy ? I was Sinclair (ZX81 then Spectrum) till I moved onto Acorn Archimedes.

A couple of things arrived last week. Over the years I've been preparing to store my cart collection in these Atari Cartridge Libraries. They slot together too. The idea is to get a cheap glass-fronted shelving unit (Ikea Billy ?) and display the bulk of them in these and maybe the rest on their sides. That's the idea anyway. The problem is my 'man-cave' or garage has too much other crap in it so there's not enough room to swing a cat (not that I would as I'm a cat lover ). One day, one day. So I sent off for another couple of these from Best Electronics. I think I have 15 now (but some are buried in my own private landfill). They are pretty cheap but postage most certainly not ! I also nabbed a few CX40 replacement boards as my joysticks are starting to fail intermittently. I'm not a boxed 2600 collector as 1) I don't have a nostalgia for them 2) Don't have the room 3) Collect to play, BUT I did want to get a boxed Adventure just as a display piece to go along with all my loose carts. Managed to pick this up for a decent price:
