i sympathise completely with the whole shipping from the usa to europe thing... i've been looking to buy a TI-99/4a recently, stupidly expensive over here for a PAL one, stupidly cheap over there for an NTSC one, but once postage is added it suddenly becomes as stupidly unfeasible as buying a PAL one... can't win...

Hmm - I've somehow missed this thread. I enjoy picking up carts at my local retro video game store - I'll have to share here. The focus is mainly NES, but they do have an Atari row. Mostly I've been picking up mostly commons, and I'm about to run out there. But every once in a while they do have something good. I'll share my next haul here.

I finally got my hands on an Atari 5200! I picked up a bunch of carts at a local shop for a 1.50 a piece, thinking I would either hang onto them until I stumbled on a 5200, or maybe trade them to someone for some 2600 or 7800 stuff. RickR on the Atari.io forums actually had an extra 5200 laying around that was missing the front bezel and the door for the storage compartment on the back of the console, and he offered it to me for free, I just had to pay shipping! I also traded some carts and cash to him for a couple of working controllers, and I suddenly had a nice little 5200 collection that I could call my own: The joysticks are what they are, but they aren't bad overall once you get used to them. Hoping to score an adapter for 2600 controllers at some point, or maybe build my own. Its nice this is a 2 port model as well; no bulky TV/Power adapter thing to worry about.

very nice! i've toyed with getting a 5200 for years but they're just so expensive here in the uk, and i own a bunch of 8bit atari puters so i've never had enough spare cash to justify getting one...
in other news, a couple of NES cartridges arrived today... barely...

Long time since I've bought anything. Those pesky shipping charges on eBay are keeping me away Have found a few NTSC carts in Europe though, so snapped those up ! I love the Surround art. Such imagination from the artist to make a simple snake game appear 'hi-tech'. Looking forward to trying these - but first they need to go through the standard cleaning process

On my most recent trip to my retro video game store, I found a few more "scarce" games I was happy to pick up. Star Stike, Fast Food, Big Bird's Egg Catch, Picnic, and Tunnel Runner.

i picked up this little lot from the Retro Revival event last week... the trakball was £3, the NES cartridge was £2, everything else was a quid each!!! (the trakball now has a red #3 pool ball inside, instead of the black one, cos why not!) the black cable at the bottom is a NES controller extension... the Premier Manager game will be hacked and turned into a Monster World IV, cos it's amazing!... the round silver thing is a GBA charger / battery pack... the red square things is an Action Replay cart for Playstation... and i'm sure you all know what the controller at the top is, with the 2 red buttons (no, not the paddles, the other one)...
